Our new topic on Fashion and Music got off to a great start with our masked ball.
Year 3 having a ball!!
The children arrived dressed for the ball and looked fantastic! As we walked into assembly that morning, we could hear the ‘swish’ of satin and taffeta,
and it was difficult to distinguish some of the boys from James Bond!
Despite Mr Rowes’ unexpected absence the ball went according to plan.
First we learnt a slow Tudor dance called a ‘Pavane’ to the tune of Greensleeves,
then we moved on to a country dance called the ‘Pattacake Polka’.
This was much faster, and good fun because it involved some clapping with your partner.
We had a competition to see which group of children could get it together best.
After that we had a bit of a rest, and listened to the Blue Danube Waltz.
Jude bravely helped to show how to hold your partner for ballroom dancing
and we tried to hear how the rhythm counted in 3s.
Mrs Willson attempted a bit of waltzing but is not quite up to Strictly Come Dancing standard yet!
Next we moved into the 20th century with the Twist. Year 3 were great at this one! Unfortunately were interrupted with a fire practise but we still had time for a bit of Rock and Roll.
The Grand Finale was Saturday Night and everyone joined in the dance moves altogether.
We had a really great day and would definitely do it again.
Thanks very much for everyone’s help with costumes and masks.
You helped to make a really special start to our Fashion and Music topic.
