After International week and our work on rights and responsibilities, the children in Dolphins decided that they wanted to make a difference to children in Africa and Eastern Europe living in difficult conditions. We decided to take part in Operation Christmas Child and send shoe boxes packed with gifts to children around the world. After ordering the resources and distributing leaflets across the school and the local community, we collected over 114 shoe boxes. We are very proud of our efforts.
My thoughts about Operation Christmas Child 2009
I love the idea of Operation Christmas Child. As you pack your shoe box you realise how much you can fit in. If your shoe box is for a girl most things are pink or purple. It actually doesn’t matter what colour things are because they don’t care, as long as they have something for Christmas they are happy. It is quite hard to believe they have nothing. We are so lucky. The colourful wrappings bring the shoe boxes to life. After they have opened the shoe box they can keep it to put all of their things in. I could not imagine not receiving any gifts. It would be horrible having a gloomy Christmas and being sad. I hope my shoe box helps people who are sad and gloomy on Christmas day.
I hope they will smile at the things inside.
